The history of the ball point pen

editing_and_proofreading_blog_749The ball point pen, as we used to call pens, has a more chequered history than you might expect.

I think the most amazing fact is that the Bic Cristal still sells for 19 cents a pen, the same price as when it hit American markets in 1959. According to one on-line inflation calculator, in today’s money that should be $1.55, a 717.7% increase.
