Writing every day

Editing_and_proofreading_blog_647Some people recommend you write every day if you are serious about your craft. Well, if you want to achieve anything significant, we all know that you need to dedicate time to it. In most activities, we all know that it is better to do something regularly than have a big chunk of less frequent effort.

Stephen King is a big advocate of writing every day. But then, I suspect that he doesn’t have quite so much to cram into his days as someone who is, for example, working full time, and juggling study & a young family.

If you decide that you will exercise, write or whatever twice a week, & aim to fit it round the rest of your life, you can easily find that several weeks have passed since you did anything. This post suggests some alternative strategies to writing every day.  It aims to keep you on track without the need for a strict daily routine.
