Editing the Little House books

Editing_and_Proofreading Blog_315I don’t know how many times I must have read the Little House books when I was a child. We felt Ma, Pa, Laura, Mary, Grace & Carrie were all close family friends.

We were hugely disappointed by the TV series Little House on the Prairie. Why did they use the names & location if they were going to write their own story? Surely, the names are the easy part?

I didn’t realise that  the books were edited by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s daughter. This letter is a fascinating insight into the process and the times. I’d love to know how much of the book was based on fact. Judging from this letter, not as much as we thought!
